You gotta love daguerreotypes. For me they smack of horror films. And like a good horror flick...you can't seem to look away...their eyes speak VOLUMES...

Take a look! Haunting, isn't it?

And this! And this!

Ever thought about how hard it must be to paint twins? The artist must portray them as TWO individuals who happen to be twins; unique and distinct, and yet the same.

Let's see how some artists fared. :)

I like this one. You have the dark twin-light twin thing going on.

Now this one belongs on the cover of a Neil Gaiman Sandman comic book. :) I like.

This one's funny, but hardly flattering.

And I think I'll like this one as a blanket. :)

Harriet Beecher Stowe's twins, Eliza and Harriet, never married, and took care of their mother all their lives.

You gotta like the story of the Siamese twins more.

How wonderful, to find out about them! Which only goes to prove that, whether in the Christian tradition or not, twins DO have POWERS. :)

In response to Sir Paolo Manalo's CW 198 murder attempt:

5. For Tata, The Death Curse: The Twins' horrible movie of 2003 which is an "...ultra-light mixture of creepy Asian horror, dopey popstar hijinks and wacky Scooby Doo-style plotting which will probably infuriate those seeking actual filmmaking.

Here is my desperate counter. A twin film that's GREAT despite it's being outdated. As a matter of fact, it's like wine; it gets better with age.

Here's prayin'.

"There were moments when Mengele came alive. There was excitement in his eyes, a tender touch in his hands. This was the moment when Josef Mengele, the geneticist, found a pair of twins."

This is how he's entertained. And this. And this:

"A set of Gypsy twins was brought back from Mengele's lab after they were sewn back to back. Mengele had attempted to create a Siamese twin by connecting blood vessels and organs. The twins screamed day and night until gangrene set in, and after three days, they died." --- Read more.

Yep. If he's handsome, charming, intelligent, a doctor, gentleman and officer, he'll probably be...

...no, not gay.

A killer.

Angel of Death, indeed.

Let us ponder on the Twins of Auschwitz.

If you were a twin, would you have had yourself announced?

Future business, perhaps? Heard that one of these existed in Old Manila, way back in the 70's---but the twins were all dwarfs. Got this information from my parents and my grandparents. The place did well, from what I heard. :) Too bad it has closed down.

Couldn't find any trace of it anywhere online. I doubt this is it. Hope someone can find it; I'd love to eat there someday. :)

Oh wow. This pair (Maria and Angela Eagle) gives us ideas...

But they'll probably beat us to it. :) Too bad they're misbehaving.

* * *
This is what's fun about having to blog about, uh, see-above. You get to find out the most flabbergasting pairs.

Like, for example...him and her.

Compare them with these two.

Which pair would you rather be? :)

* * *

Guess the relationship of the two. You know who they are. And one of them has a twin too. :)

Ingrid Bergman and Isabella Rossellini

Johnny Depp and Skeet Ulrich (actors Johnny Depp and Skeet Ulrich)

and  (actresses Monica Potter and Julia Roberts)

LeeLee Sobieski and Helen Hunt (actresses Leelee Sobieski and Helen Hunt)

A big thank you to you!

ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA....

Antony and Cleopatra

Had 'em too. *wink*

Strange, how they are overlooked.

Remember those horrid scenes in STAR WARS, where Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa kiss??! ewwww!! *gags*

As Chefelf says:

Discuss.

...or disgust.

Good thing this came out. :)

It's an old joke between us, that if we get fed up with each other, we'll fight, and whoever overpowers the other will get to put her in an iron mask.

You've read the book, you've seen the movie. But what we really want to know is...is it true??

* * *
This is an effed up world we live in, when things like this can happen.

Looks like they won't be needing any one of these anymore.

Why don't you try it? On one hand, you gotta admire them. On the other...well...

And all this from a photograph. :)

More on them.

Please explain to me how in the world did this sweet young girl (who played the adorable twins in the 1998 remake of the Disney film Parent Trap)

The Parent Trap (1998)

end up like this?

I just love browsing through the really ANCIENT books in the Main Lib. I am especially thrilled when I see how old they are. Once I even had my hands on a book published in 1904 (it was a slim book on poetry). I swear, my hands tingled after I held it.

So when I stumbled across this, I was delighted. Oh, where can I find some??!

Current Mood:
